Question: water leaking into my car passenger floorboard

I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris hatchback, and just a couple of days ago everytime I make a left hand turn it sounds like a waterfall under my dashboard. Also, it drips water into my passenger floorboard. My warranty just ran out so apparently I will have to deal with this myself, so what should I do?

Sounds like a problem with your air condition system. The component responsible for removing the captured moisture is located under the dashboard. If the draining system is clogged or otherwise disturbed it can cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

You will need to examine the draining system. You can usually spot it as a small tube coming from the firewall in the engine bay. It will be mounted low and on the passenger side. Water should be dripping out of it while the engine is running and the AC system is operating.

Any shop that works with A/C systems should be able to spot and remedy the problem for you.

I have the same problem with my Yaris..... exact same symptoms.... left turn produces water in passenger compartment with the noise of water flowing through the heater/ AC fan. It happens either when I run the air conditioner or after/ during a rainfall. The dealer told me it was a plugged drain tube and jacked up the car to show me where to blow it out. We did. It didn't help. My carpeting is starting to smell moldy and will probably have to be replaced. The car is a 2008, with 40k miles on it.... just enough to be off warranty.

So far the dealer doesn't really have an answer for me, and have told me it is essentially a design flaw. They are contacting Toyota and asking for advice, but i don't hold out a lot of hope.

I have owned a number of Toyotas, and always been tickled pink with them. This turkey is turning into a major disappointment.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...

2008 Hyundai Accent What we think Hyundai’s 3-door provides ample amenities alongside its $10,775 base price. Front and side-impact airbags are standard, as is a peppy 1.6-liter four-cylinder. The Accent is surprisingly well styled, abandoning the bubble-body of previous generations for the crisp, clean lines of the rest of the Hyundai family. ...
